I'm Liam Atkins, and I'm standing for election here in the area where I grew up and where I chose to run my business.
My roots here go deep – my “baby” home was Cotswold Close in Malvern Way, and my teenage home was on Elphinstone Road. I was at secondary school when my grandparents were moved to Ore before the maisonettes were pulled down.
I'm as Baird as you.
I've run a small business in Hastings for over a decade. I’m a single dad with a 7-year-old son, and I totally get it. Hard work and financial responsibility mean as much to me as to you.
If only it meant the same to the council leadership, who have taken Hastings Borough Council to the brink of bankruptcy. You need your councillors to be efficient, capable and mindful of exactly whose money they’re spending…yours.
It’s why I’m standing. I want to speak up for you. And for me. And all those who are so busy getting on with life, who need to trust their politicians to do the right thing.
But tell me, what matters most to you?
Like you, I believe trust is earned.
It’s why I’m already working hard to earn your trust and prove myself as your next councillor, because who trusts a talker who isn’t a doer? But to continue doing these things and more, I would like to hear from you. Tell me about any local issues and what matters most to you and your family.
I can’t guarantee you results (no honest politician can), but I can promise to do all I can to deliver for the area I grew up in.
Thank you, Liam.
